Richard Carter Limited - Case Study Richard Carter Limited have been going since just after the Civil War and must surely be one of the oldest businesses in England. Starting out as Blacksmiths the company has seen many recessions, wars, and changes in customers requirements. |

Based in the heart of 'Last of the Summer Wine' country, this traditional manufacturing company are no longer Blacksmiths, but manufacturers of high quality hand tools.
However, in recent years, like many UK manufacturers, they have been faced by increasing competition from cheap, inferior imports which has seen off many of their local competitors. Sales had levelled and they needed to look at how they managed their sales process.
Enter Real World Business......
We looked at their mix of customers and how these were being serviced. It soon became obvious that smaller customers could be looked after just as well by telephone, leaving the external sales function to concentrate on developing sales within larger accounts. Fresh blood was introduced to bring enthusiasm and greater professionalism.
Ambitious targets were set and new marketing materials produced. And did it work? Absolutely. Just months later, the company secured the largest new customer in years…and they are still here and prospering, despite the recession and despite competition from overseas.

We helped them formulate an action plan and to this day they use our methodology to keep reviewing their three year plan.
And we still help them. We devised and delivered a series of workshops to their employees, bringing together a diverse range of cultures to work together to make their strategic plan into a workable plan of action. Its common sense really. If an individual doesn’t understand why they are being asked to do something then the lack of enthusiasm will speak for itself. So, we made certain everyone involved in the business embraced the importance of the company strategy and how it impacts on all areas of the business. Now, the employees feel valued and an integral part of the implementation process. Everyone within the organisation continues to be involved in reaching the company's goals.

Prohms Limited - Case Study PROHMS is an Occupational Health Company with a wonderful ethos. We can only put down to the fact that it is owned by a nurse and employs nurses, doctors and physiotherapists - all from the caring professions. |

In fact they are so good at their job that there have been times when they have saved peoples lives. Literally.
So what was there problem?
Well, they really needed someone to help them with their Sales Strategy. They wanted to improve sales but they were so busy caring for their patients that they couldn't see how they could develop sales as well.

First of all we worked with the management team to decide on the type and size of business they wanted. We made sure that these types of businesses would increase not only turnover but increase profit too. It was really important that the sales strategy was relevant to the goals of the business.
Next, we identified a target prospect and made contact. Unsurprisingly PROHMS was well received and we helped the team put together a really good proposal.
